Synopsis:
What do you think about, when you first hear the word ITEM ?
The play is exactly about that thought , and not the literary meaning of the word, i.e. a commodity or a product.
We have been using the word ITEM as a replacement for a sexy looking girl.
As the proliferation of social media is increasing in the past few years, this meaning of the word ITEM has been blindly accepted by the society.
The play talks about this blind acceptance.
The play emphasises on the male chauvnist media which intelligently uses a women's image to sell it's products and the changing aesthetics because of the same.

Director's Note:
We usually never tend to notice that our ideas of gender & its power structure are largely provoked by media content. 'Item' made each team member revisit these conditioned ideas, which lead creating a 'dead pause' in the minds, as even they occur on the stage. Now what does this pause mean? Need to change? Guilt? Fear of oneself? Alright so!?.. Or anything else?
On the stage, roam the men with dirty props, unclean floor, goddy seats, rusty minds, polished beds & moulded thoughts.
'Item' compelled me to break my concepts of making a content work a certain way & made me develop a newer stage narrative, which rubbed off the 'say out loud' process & rather stress the undercurrents.
The most interesting part of the process was when the entire team found a single rhythm of the play, which eventually lead to create a compund effect of loop of each character. Another part was when everyone caught the silences in the play the same way. The set ups & periods in the play vary constantly but eventually the compilation of all those characters, their lives, their perception, & nothingness amongst them, create a bizarre experience. Finally all elements on the stage, technical and non technical, become a character & point towards the very 'first thought' that occurs when we hear the word - 'ITEM'.
