Synopsis:
Poems of the city – This platform performance is a juxtaposition of various poems, being written in different times about the city. These poems set out to reveal the multiple sides of co-habitation in the many lifestyles the city holds. Just as incidents and the city’s chaos are random and simultaneous phenomenon of the city, in a similar fashion these poems, the products of different socio-cultural backgrounds, of multiple worldviews and aesthetics, are performed by actors in order to create a collage of the city. In this dramatic piece, D.P.Chitre, Namdev Dhasal, Salil Wagh, Nagraj Manjule, Arun Kolatkar and along with them, some younger poets of Pune explore topics like love, sexuality, socio-economic repression, virtual reality and market oriented culture with the city as a backdrop.
