Synopsis:
Sindhu, Sudhkar, Rum and Others, the Marathi play written by Ashutosh Potdar and directed by Alok Rajwade, is a dramatic re-telling of the story of one of the famous Indian plays of the early 20th century: Ekach Pyala in Marathi. The play begins with the costume designer, Apple accompanied by Rama and Raghu preparing towards a new period film based on Ekach Pyala. Later, a tailor and a cyclist join pre-production stage of the making of the film. The characters hailing from diverse backgrounds and equipped with their own means and motivated by own ends get engulfed in to the Ekach Pyala characters and plot. A story of the past turns into a story of the present. The characters from the present confuse themselves with the history. The drama of in-between-spaces of the past and the present scuttles into the crevices of time, the suppressed feelings of an individual, the hidden spaces of human relations, and the unspoken stories of the society. Through the dramatic role-plays, constant game of flipping costumes, characters and mannequins in the studio; Sindhu, Sudhkar, Rum and Others makes an insightful journey into colourful and dark facets of society and individuals breaking boundaries of time and space.
